“Music is a language that doesn’t speak in particular words. It speaks in emotions, and if it’s in the bones, it’s in the bones.” ― Keith Richards
If this doesn’t speak for all of us, then I don’t know what does. There have just been like a hundred thousand moments where we have felt the need to indulge in music. It’s the only language we all, collectively, speak fluently. What better way to enjoy music, explore different genres than to gather and take it all in together?
If you are looking to attend a Music Fest that satiates your soul and enriches your life with an unforgettable experience, Ziro Festival of Music (ZFM2018) is just the right place!
Here are a few things you must know about ZFM:
1. What happens in ZFM:
The ZFM has a total of 40 amazing acts presented over the span of four days. It’s a right blend of music, art and culture through an exciting trip into the heart and soul of world music and tribal culture. The ZFM is not only a platform for music enthusiasts but also a for artists who wish to explore diverse ways to showcase their art to the world. If you are an upcoming talent, you are allowed to enrol as an artist as well.
2. Where and When:
The ZFM takes place in Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh, India every year. It’s a four-day Music Fest that starts on the 27th of September until the 30th. The passes start at INR 5,000 per person and are valid for all the four days. The best thing is that it’s an e-ticket (no hassle at all). You could get there by air, train or road.
3. Who can go:
The Fest is open to all music enthusiasts. It doesn’t restrict anyone from having a good time. If you love music, you’ve got in. You do need a permit to enter the state though. National citizens need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) and international ones need a Protected Area Permit (PAP). They can be acquired in the major state tourism centres and the ILP can also be acquired online.
The festival ticket does not include any accommodation. It only includes entry to the venue for the said dates. But there’s no need to worry. There are ample hotels and stays for everyone. Book in advance and you’re good to go. This is not it! There’s an interesting facility called Bring Your Own Tent (BYOT)! Note that this does not include the festival pass, this is just an accommodation pass. It starts at INR 3000 per person no matter how many people your tent can accommodate.
Like accommodations, the festival pass does not include food. There are numerous stalls inside and outside the festival campus that serve a wide range of cuisines and drinks. Festival-goers have said that a budget of INR 1,000 is enough for a day. It may be BYOT (bring your own tent) but note that it’s not BYOB (Bring your own booze).
The weather in Ziro, during this period can be a bit unpredictable. There could be scorching heat in the afternoon but could get windy or even drizzly at night. Carry your supplies wisely and accordingly. ‘Less is more’ is the motto here. Locals say that as a ZFM tradition, it has to rain each year during the fest.
